18?-21 Sept:
Tasha weathered the violent winds (tornado warnings were posted) where she
sat out the eastern edge of Tropical Storm Ivan's move up the eastern US.
At some point on the 18th or 19th she apparently took the shortcut across
the "Gulf of Georgia" to somewhere in northern Florida. Even
with our fancy new transmitters, which are broadcasting 24/7, we have
blackouts with no signals for somewhat nerve-wracking periods. Murphy's
law applies here, of course, so these blackouts seem to occur just when the birds are doing the most interesting things.
After almost two days with no signal, she showed
up again on the eastern coast of Florida, just west of Vero Beach. She's
about 60 miles (100km) north of her classmate Jaws, who spent the night in
Stuart.
