21 Oct:
Bluebeard wasted no time in getting from Cuba to Colombia. The two
locations just west of Hispaniola are not the most accurate, so he almost
surely rested briefly in Haiti. We had no locations for him until very
late on the 20th,
so we don't know exactly when he began the trans-Caribbean crossing. The
location on the 21st was actually just before 11PM on the 20th, so he
probably left Hispaniola late on the 19th.
His landfall was just east of where Jaws has been
hanging out for almost 3 weeks, and about 400 km west of Elsie's last
location in Venezuela. He got to South America only 4 days after Elsie,
despite her 26 day head start.
If he follows the behavior we've seen in other
adults, he will rest a bit here and take off in a hurry for his well-known
wintering area.
The Osprey-ometer now reads 2647 mi. (4261
km). The Cuba-Colombia trip was 703 mi. (1131 km).
